A dedicated potter living in Hudson, WI, near the tranquil Willow River, Kaufmann’s artistic journey has always included writing. He infuses his narrative pieces with a palpable sense of texture and depth, mirroring the intricate layers of his ceramic creations. His first novel, “The Change,” won the Conference Choice Award at the 2017 San Diego State Writers’ Conference. The book, despite being agented and an award winner, faced the blistering realities of the publishing world and was never printed. The 2nd Coming of Orlando Rock” (Mirador 2022), became a Page Turner award winner and a finalist in 2023. In "Radical Encounter" (2024), his latest novel, he invites readers on a journey of exploration and discovery, where he intricately weaves together the threads of science fiction, romance, and self-determination against the backdrop of a race to save humankind. While his hands are skilled at shaping clay into intricate pottery forms, Kaufmann finds joy in crafting interesting narratives that transport readers to imaginative worlds filled with wonder.
